The Rothschild family wanted for a long time to build a French resort to rival that of the prestigious Swiss resort of St. Moritz. The desire was to create a resort bearing the symbol of the art of living in France.
Megeve has been highly coveted since its inception, the largest of crowned heads having stayed there. The area around the town boasts 325 km of trails and about 84 lifts. The trails, some long some a little shorter, are well maintained and offer a unique skiing experience.
