Transportation
Megeve is a wonderful winter destination, as it is considered to be on of the best and most beautiful ski resorts in France. The trip should be quite fun especially by train or car, although in winter the roads can get a little perilous.
Get in
By plane
The closest major airport to Megeve is Geneva’s Cointrin Airport. There’s bus service 4 times a day directly to Megeve, 69 km southeast of the airport. The 90-minute ride costs 40€ ($52).
By train
The train journey from Paris to Megeve costs about 73 Euro and is faster on weekends, when the TGV travels directly to Sallanches, taking about 5 1/2 hours. Monday to Friday, the TGV goes only as far as Annecy, after which travelers transfer onto slower trains to Sallanches, which is only 13 km away. From Sallanches, about 8 to 10 buses a day make the trip to Megeve at a cost of 6.50€ ($8.45) one-way.
By car
If you’re driving to Megeve from Paris, take A6 southeast to Macon, connect to A40 east to St-Gervais, and follow N212 south straight into Megeve. Winter driving conditions can be perilous. Make sure your car has snow tires and chains. The E25 European road also passes near Megeve.
Get around
It’s quite easy to get around, both in summer and winter. In summer walking is your best choice, as skiing is in winter. The paths around town as well as those outside of it can be easily followed in both summer and winter, either by walking or skiing.
